Wow, people have pledged almost 2500 hours of volunteer time! Amazing-thank you so much!
Pledge support for the project! Like to garden? We’re looking for volunteers to pledge hours towards planting in the fall. These pledged hours will be matched by the City with cash (at $20 per hour). Please send us a note- let us know how many hours you can pledge, and we’ll put you on the list for the big planting party this fall. Thanks! Send to firstname.lastname@example.org
We’ve passed the first round, and are moving on to the second round.. actually applying for the grant with the Department of Neighborhoods.
I just hit ‘send’ on an Intent to Apply application for a Dept. of Neighborhoods grant to do the next phase of the project. If given the invitation to go forward, we’ll apply for funding to do 16 gardens. Fingers crossed-wish us luck!
I’m excited to report that we’ll be creating a new garden on November 7th, 2009 at 17th and Columbia. If you’d like to come help plant, please drop me a note.
The amazing team at Studio Matthews just finished up the new garden i.d. signs.. they look great! Holding them aside for now until we figure out how to keep them in the ground..
The Berkeley City Council just voted (unanimously!) for the creation of pollinator friendly parks.
