March 13, 2012

Hi friends, Spring is arriving! To kick it off, we’re having a get-ready-for-spring mini work party this Saturday! We’ll do just one garden, and maybe a little weeding to welcome the coming warmer weather. It should be great fun- come by!

March 17, 2012 on Columbia Street, between 24th and 25th Ave. (it’ll be really obvious once you’re there).

We’ll be there from 11-4 (we’ll leave early if we run out of work to do, but I’m guessing we’ll work right up til four.

Thank you to everyone who came out for my talk at the Henry Art Gallery. It was an honor to speak there, especially in conjunction with two such tremendous artists, Wolfgang Laib and Winslow Homer, as part of the current exhibit “Pollen and Paint: Laib, Homer, and the Natural World”. Both are wonderful pieces, and the Laib piece is shown only rarely (the last time it was on view was 2001) so check it out if you have a chance.

It was rewarding to have an opportunity to share my personal engagement and trajectory through the course of developing this project, from my beginnings as a painter working on landscape, to my interest in the systems that sustain us, to working on this large scale public/private garden. You were all such a great audience- thank you.
