I just ran across this photo of one of the gardens we planted in 2011. For being planted so recently (this photo was taken only a couple of months after planting), it sure grew fast–gorgeous!

I think part of the reason it looks so good is that we sheet mulched (which is a method of laying down sheets of cardboard over grass, and then a high layer of mulch, then letting it sit about six months until the grass dies). The next work party this spring will focus on sheet mulching- come lend a hand if you’d like to see the method in action, or just want to support the project.
